XFM: Building a Website for an Extraordinary Operator

The Client

XFM (Xpress Freight Management) is one of Australia's fastest-rising logistics companies — a true industry disruptor taking on tier-one competitors not by playing the same game, but by refusing to. In an industry that has sacrificed service for convenience and cost, XFM has built its name on the opposite bet: that relationships, flexibility and a relentless focus on the client still win.

XFM doesn't want to be just another operator. Their vision is to be an Extraordinary Operator — not a "good" one, because good just means meeting a sinking industry standard. Extraordinary means running towards change while everyone else runs towards the bottom line.

The Challenge

The new website was the final piece of the puzzle — and the final piece to rolling out their new brand.

This project is a continuation of Hi Blue's partnership with XFM, which began with the brand identity redesign in September 2024. In the time since, Hi Blue has embedded itself in the business — helping roll out the new identity across livery, signage, uniforms and collateral. The website was the last touchpoint left untouched, and it was carrying the weight of an old brand that no longer matched the company XFM had become.

The goals were clear:

  • Refresh the website so it fully aligned with the new XFM brand — completing the identity rollout, not just patching it

  • Give the XFM team an easy way to manage and populate the site themselves, and to spin up new pages without depending on a developer

  • Add the pages that were missing, to show how far the company has evolved

  • Rewrite the website copy from the ground up — moving away from generic, industry-standard language and replacing it with words that actually sound like XFM: deliberately different, customer-first, built on relationships

The Approach

Every decision on the site was run through the same filter Hi Blue had used to build the brand itself: would a "good operator" do this, or would an extraordinary one?

That meant pushing past templated freight-industry web design — stock trucks, stock taglines, stock everything — and building something bolder. A site with a point of view. One that didn't just describe what XFM does, but argued for why it does it differently.

The copy was rewritten line by line to reflect XFM's brand pillars — we take freight personally, we solve problems they can't, deliberately different — replacing the placeholder language that's common across the industry with words that sound like an actual challenger brand, not a transport directory listing.

Structurally, the new site was built to flex with the business rather than freeze it in time. New service lines, new case studies, new locations — the XFM team can now publish all of it themselves, without waiting on a developer every time the company moves forward.

The Result

The result is a website that looks and reads like nothing else in Australian freight: bold, confident, and unmistakably XFM. It completes the brand transformation that began with the identity redesign, gives the team full ownership of their own content, and gives XFM's "iconic, dynamic" client base a digital front door that finally matches the standard of the partnership behind it.

It's not a freight company's website. It's an extraordinary operator's website.
